Occupational therapy can rehabilitate people who have sustained a brain injury so that they can live actively and independently
Helen enjoys a challenge. She loves running and has completed two half marathons as well as climbing more than ten mountains. While trekking in the Himalayas Helen fell down a glacier. As a result of her accident Helen sustained a number of severe injuries, including a skull fracture. An occupational therapist at her hospital rehabilitation unit understood brain injuries and helped Helen resume the physical activities which she loves. Following her rehabilitation Helen completed the 5k Adidas challenge in September 2009 and will compete in a 10k challenge this year.
