The British Association and College of Occupational Therapists is committed to ongoing accessibility improvements to this website
We are working with IRIS, the provider of Concept CMS, to make this website AA compliant with the W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. Compliance with the W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines is not legislated but is recognised as industry best practice for meeting the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act.
Code
Compliance with the majority of WCAG recommendations is determined by the underlying structure of the HTML, XHTML and CSS. Website coding has been checked by an impartial agency using independent industry standard WC3 validators. We have identified improvements which IRIS are currently working to implement.
Our content management system includes a text editor which was chosen for its W3C compliance. It supports accessibility via code clean-up to Wxc WAI and section 508 and is compatible with leading browsers. It also generates compliant XHTML 1.0 or HTML 4.01.
Font size
At present, this Concept CMS website does not enable scalable font sizes. Users who need larger font are recommended to use the browser zoom function function.
Design
This website follows WCAG guidelines for usability and accessibility in the visual and information design of the interface. The designs has been fully tested and validated with key users groups to ensure usability in line with user and business goals. This process included an accessibility audit conducted by Flow Interactive and live user testing involving a user group with visual and mobility impairments. Site templates have also been tested using a tool which simulates protanopic, deuteranopic, and titranopic forms of colour blindness to ensure they are viewable by users with these disabilities.
