The different departments of the College work together on strategic and operational objectives
This section of site summaries the key responsibilities of the different College departments. The College is a charity and wholly owned subsidiary of The British Association of Occupational Therapists which is the professional body representing occupational therapy staff in the United Kingdom. The College plays a crucial role in promoting the profession and meeting the professional needs of occupational therapy staff in the UK.
Its activities include:
- accreditation of pre-registrating training courses
- endorsement of training opportunities
- supporting research into the cost benefits of occupational therapy
- esponding to Government consultations in England, Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland
- providing specialist resources for BAOT members' Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- influencing the commissioners of health and social services
- supporting member activity in regional and local groups
- BJOT, the only monthly peer-reviewed occupational therapy journal
- OTnews - a monthly news magazine for BAOT members
- The British Journal of Occupational Therapy - the UK's only annual, national occupational therapy journal
- producing key publications on areas of practice
