April Mental Health update

March and April 2012 has seen a raft of policy documents that needed COT input:  the Joint Commissioning Panel for Mental Health’s report into rehabilitation services includes commissioning advice for many services that OTs will work in and it was great to able to input to this. In addition the implementation framework for the England policy paper No Health without Mental Health has now had COT input.

COT contributed to an event in Wakefield for OTs who work in mental health services about the changing landscape in health and social care and how to adapt and promote ourselves. Learning opportunities from workshops included business planning skills and the increasing use of telecare in mental health services.

COT also visited the Scottish Government Mental Health Division with the Scottish Managers and COTSS-MH Scottish sub group to prepare for COT Conference in Glasgow this June (hope to see you there!). Finally, we are due to have some of the National Executive Committee members leave and have some vacancies for enthusiastic OTs to join us to help run COTSS-MH.
