When booking for a college conference please ensure that you allow a minimum of 10 days for your application to be processed by the college. If you have been allocated a place on a conference you will receive a confirmation letter and a receipt of payment. Please note that pre-payment is required, invoices will not be issued.

Changing Lives with Rehabilitation; the Rehabilitation Framework in Action

Rehabilitation is a vital component of Scottish Government strategy, especially in terms of services for older people, people with long-term conditions and people returning to work. This conference will give Scottish OTs and support workers wherever they are employed a chance to become better acquainted with Government policy in this area and to discuss inspirational ideas on how the profession can position itself at the heart of its implementation.

Return to Practice

Description: This is a one-day event aimed at occupational therapists planning a return to practice after a period of absence and at OTs or employers who offer placements or supervision to returners. The aim is to help delegates to access the available resources to equip them for return to work and to inform them of important issues such as the Health Professions Council requirements for returners. Delegates will also have the opportunity to learn about how COT can help them refresh their skills and provide a network of support to help them back to practice.

Manual Handling for Occupational Therapists: The Balancing Act and Practical Workshop

Description:

This two day course is for OTs working in health and social care who may find themselves providing manual handling advice, guidance and support to carers and colleagues.

The first day will provide factual information on the legal framework to manual handling and detail the occupational therapy guidance document produced by the College of Occupational Therapists. The day will provide opportunity, through case scenarios and group discussion, for delegates to discuss the implications of the guidance and how the document may be implemented in practice.

The second day will be a practical workshop which will focus on the practical elements of safer handling.

Delegate numbers are restricted to 25 for the two day course to provide participants with the opportunity for practical work. Additional places are available for FIRST day ONLY.
