The College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Section - Neurological Practice has a long history . Over the years the Section has gone from strength to strength and is now one of the largest specialist sections of the College of Occupational Therapists with over 700 members who actively support and promote the development of new ideas within the field of neurology practice.
The aims of the Specialist Section are:
- To promote best practice in occupational therapy for people with neurological conditions.
- To improve knowledge of neurological conditions and their treatment as applied in occupational therapy.
- To encourage awareness of up-to-date approaches to assessment and treatment.
- To stimulate an exchange of ideas.
- To facilitate a network of regional support and access to resource material.
- To encourage continuing education and development of research.
- To develop Evidence Based best practice guidelines.
- To promote an organisation of expert standing to influence policy development and patient care.
- To provide expert knowledge and advice to the College of Occupational Therapists to allow them to make informed responses to national enquiries.
- To support the Strategic Vision of the College of Occupational Therapists.
- To promote equitable professional development and support.
