Four forthcoming AHP Conferences organised by the Department of Health will enable OTs to fully understand the coming reforms to the health and care system and the opportunities they bring to maximise the AHP contribution to delivering innovative solutions. 'AHPs – delivering better care, delivering better value' will include workshops on commissioning, Any Qualified Provider and service redesign.

Making Your Voice Heard – could you host a COT roadshow this summer?

Based on feedback from members we are hoping to run a series of road shows in the UK which will be a chance to meet some of the Practice Team and get to know what work we do on your behalf, as well as what you can do locally to influence decision making. It will also be a chance to find out how we can work together to ensure the OT voice in heard in changing health and social care landscapes.

The College of Occupational Therapists recognises the need for a high quality and efficient NHS. We would like to see a system which is more patient-centered, supports stronger integration between health and social care, and the delivery of evidence-based public health interventions.

Members’ ballot planned as pension negotiations continue

BAOT/COT Council has given UNISON's negotiators the go-ahead to continue pension negotiations on BAOT’s behalf. UNISON are the in the final stages of negotiations on the government’s proposals for NHS pensions, with the heads of agreement to be completed within the next few weeks. A full ballot of UNISON’s membership will consult members on whether they wish to accept or reject the final package, advising members that if they reject they would need to take part in immediate and sustained industrial action.

BAOT members urged to vote YES in UNISON pensions ballot

BAOT’s Council is asking members to Vote YES in the UNISON ballot for industrial action to protect public sector pensions. BAOT Council has expressed real concern over the impact that pensions’ changes could have on members and has agreed to support UNISON’s pension campaign.

 

Naomi Hankinson, Chairman of Council said 'The proposed changes to public sector pensions have serious implications for many of our members who are rightly concerned that they will have to pay more and work longer, for a lower pension.

Unison begins ballot for industrial action to protect public sector pensions

BAOT members are being balloted for industrial action to protect public sector pensions.

Current proposals mean that most people will pay more and work longer to get a pension that will be worth less.

UNISON is balloting for strike action initially to start on 30 November.

The ballot opens today, Tuesday 11 October.

As members of UNISON, BAOT Professional and Associate Members will be included in UNISON’s ballot process. The ballot closes on 3 November.
